QEM Solutions were asked to work with United Utilities in order to identifying the possible quality and welding control measures required to ensure an effective delivery of the Hallbank Project, the second phase of the Thirlmere Project.
QEM provided a suitably qualified Welding Engineer Specialist with the back-up support to ensure that the project had an acceptable level of QA/QC control in relation to welding activities.
QEM took on the following responsibilities:

Reviews of weld procedure specifications (WPS) proposals for suitability prior to Weld procedure Qualifications (WPQT)

Review of WPS and Material Certification and ensuring compliance to specifications

Review of Welding Quality Plans / Inspection & Test Plans for suitability as required.

Review of mechanical testing results and final WPS packages prior to welding commencing on site.

Carrying out site welding & NDT visits / inspection and audits as required by UU and report on any issues to the Construction Supervisor when identified.
