UK & Ireland Featured Project: Cadent Mineral Blue / isCompliant Implementation (1603)

QEM Solutions have been assisting Cadent Gas with the implementation of our Mineral Blue and isCompliant software. By developing a bespoke connection between the two suites, QEM were able to establish a streamlined process for gathering project milestone achievements. Balancing these achievements with audit and inspection results have enabled Cadent to to get a true measure of project success.

News Spotlight Are we doing it right? Effective meetings in Microsoft Teams

Since the Covid onslaught, businesses worldwide have adopted Microsoft Teams in place of meeting in person. And while it’s true that many of us are now adept with the software, it’s likely that others still use only the bits that suit them best. While we may get through the working day in one piece without some functionalities and etiquette, we could probably work better with the full toolset to hand. And why not? There’s still a long way to go before we’re all back in the office.

Our Projects

Combined, we have over 50 years experience, gained on a variety of projects throughout the world. But no two engineering projects are alike.

Sometimes we manage a project from the very start and continue to be involved until the end reports. Other times we are brought in to provide specialist services in specific areas. Each brings different challenges. Each has different outcomes.

We would like to share just a few of these projects here.

West Winch HAZCON - Murphy Pipelines (1757) Formal Process Safety Assessments

Murphy Pipelines

West Winch
1 Apr 2019 - Ongoing

QEM were asked to manage and chair the HAZCON studies for various National Grid pre-heat projects.

When completing any work to the National Transmission System (NTS) it is a requirement to carry out a Formal Process Safety Assessment (HAZID, HAZOP, SWDS, HAZCON and HAZDEM as required) on the planned works.

QEM has various Senior Engineers qualified to carry out FPSAs on behalf of NGN, NG, SGN and Cadent. Our workshops uses ‘guidewords’ to trigger conversations about the effects of the works and how it will impact the Project and the team that are carrying out the work.

The meeting aims to identify and mitigate hazards in the design, construction, operation of the work. All topics were covered and any actions were taken away to be completed, this will need to be agreed by the group before the study can be concluded.

QEM provided a suitable Consultant in the form of a competent person with extensive gas network experience, with the QEM Solutions back-up to support.

QEM were responsible for the following activities:

  • Chair of FPSA Safety Study Meetings
  • Production of FPSA Study Reports
  • Production of FPSA Actions
  • Review and Acceptance of FPSA Action Responses
