QEM were asked to provide consultancy in the form of a competent person with extensive National Grid experience, with the QEM Solutions back-up support to Skanska.
Skanska were awarded a contract to design and build a replacement high-pressure gas pipeline within a tunnel, underneath the River Humber from Paull to Goxhill, replacing the existing pipeline, which lies on the riverbed.
Over the three year project the joint venture will provide full design and construction of the 5km tunnel underneath the river Humber, inserting a single string of 42” steel pipe and connect into the above-ground installations (AGIs) at Paull and Goxhill.
QEM provided consultancy services to assist with:

Review the design to ensure compliance with NG standards and processes

HAZCON Management

HAZID Management

HAZOP Management

Review the design pack for inter-disciplinary errors

Ensure the design has complied with the G35 process

Assist in defining the BP007 databook requirements

Determine a list of project documents required by National Grid

Manage the production of the key project documents

Review the project documents prior to submission to eliminate any errors or omissions

Manage the review process and closing out of the client comments
The above activities were be carried out by a competent and experienced resource. In addition to this a full support mechanism with predetermined processes was provided remotely as and when necessary.
